Meeting and working with the Webs was a treat unto itself. It took less than 10 minutes to tap into their family dynamic to produce a family photography session that felt like them in this moment of time. Their eldest son was gearing up to graduate high school and become a film major in fact, so what started as a few bio photos for him transitioned into personality portraits for his siblings too. This was a session that felt purposefully organic and full of heart.
Family Portraits in Austin Hill Country
Walking around in one of the most scenic locations to photograph outdoors: Brushy Creek Lake Park in Cedar Park, Texas will always lend itself to a family session that feels natural and full of light. We’re talking lots of greenery, color coordinated outfits (or not!), and PLENTY of personality. One of my favorite ways to play with my subjects in this public park is by noticing how sunlight is filtering through the trees, often resulting in unique lighting situations that when photographed correctly, showcases my clients in beautiful and unique ways.
As we were walking around, chatting and getting to know each other the Webs’ eldest son made a point to ask me a few photo related questions pertaining to light. We quickly got into his reason why: he was hoping to major in film. A few core memories include seeing the proud look on his dad’s face as he talked about his path- and beyond that throughout our session, capturing the rough and tough chemistry of their tribe which would always lead to lots of fluffy moments full of love. At one point their youngest daughter literally climbed a tree! After a quick note to ask her to sit as prim and proper as she could on a stump halfway up, we ended up with an image that was quite cheeky and so her.
